The
final movie I watched in "Fry-Your-Brain-A-Thon
2000" was
"Garbage Pail
Kids - The Movie." Yes, it's called "Fry-Your-Brain-A-Thon" for
a reason.
The
movie's hero is a 13 year old boy who is constantly getting
getting dirty. For some reason his 40 year old boss, who looks
a
lot like Captain, of Captain and Tenille, feels the need to bathe
his employee several times during the movie which I found rather
disturbing.
No, I take that back, it was very disturbing.
The kid wants to impress this 20 year old girl who just happens to be
the
local gang leader's girlfriend. The gang leader by the way looked
like a cross
between Don Johnson and Adam Ant. The kid doesn't know how to impress
the
girl but he does know how to knock over a trash can and let the Garbage
Pail Kids out of their prison. If this was a normal movie, by now
we have
our gang of lovable misfits who will prove that being a misfit isn't
so
bad, however nobody was lovable in this movie.
The
Garbage Pail kids have
a knack for sewing bad 80's fashion and decide to use that talent
to help the kid
get the girl, and proceed to make him a jacket that looks like it
was
designed for the King of Pop. All the sudden that adult/child bathing
thing makes more
sense.
At
this point the writer ran out of plot and the movie is halfway
over, so suddenly without warning the State Home For The Ugly
captures
all
the Garbage Pail Kids. Before this point we had no idea that the
State
Home for The Ugly existed. Some how the kid convinces a biker
gang to
break his friends out and unfortunately for us, they do.
The
girl finally
dumps Adam Ant but the often molested little boy decides he
doesn't want her because she was
just using him for clothes and then he orders the Garbage Pail
Kids back
into Kathy Lee Gifford's sweat shop to make him more clothes
while he goes
and takes a bath with the Captain and the King of Pop. Something
like that
anyway.
At
this point the marathon was only half over but my brain was
more than fried, so I left. I was disappointed I missed Orca
though.
